Future Office
Brief
How will the office look like in 10 years?
Problem
Computer screens are degrading our vision, prolonged sitting is weakening our hip muscules, constant work is degrading our wellbeing, office chatter is damaging our hearing and increasing stress. Small things add up. The future of work shouldn’t be an iteration on current solutions, it should be rethought
The modern day work is dominated by looking down at a screen for long periods of time. As evident by the vast research, such work leads to neck and back pain, as well as pain in elbows, wrists, and hands.
We analysed the history of offices from prehistoric times to now and found that even though there were future thinking concepts, they either turned out to not work or were never implemented correctly. What’s clear is that most itterations were concerned about productivity rather than wellbeing.
The 1920s offices were modeled after factories (factory is on the left).
We looked into the history of office layouts and found patterns that lead us to the decision to not define specific shapes, but to construct the values that would guide decision makers in building their own Future Offices.
